Monday-Friday

Students will make sure to follow along in their Texas Performance Standards packet for guidelines for their PBL unit.

Students will be working on gathering answers from the experts (sources) to guide their research.

Students will be also be working on their projects.

Students will be working on synthesizing and organizing their ideas for their presentation.

Students are encouraged to create an interactive presentation for the audience and panel of judges.

Students will begin on Wednesday practicing giving their presentations to our class in preparation for their presentations the week following Spring Break.

February 27-March 3, 2017

Monday-Friday

10-15 expert questions are due at the beginning of class Monday.

 

Students will be working on gathering 2 or more experts (sources) to guide their research on their PBL unit.

Students will be working on researching, synthesizing, and organizing their ideas for their presentation.

Applications for scholarships for academic summer camps are due Thursday, 16th.

February 6-10, 2017

Monday-Friday

I will introduce to students how to develop a PBL driving question.

This will be due at the beginning of class on Wednesday.

Students will be working on gathering 2 or more experts (sources) to guide their research on their PBL unit.

Students will be developing 10-15 questions for their experts to answer.

Students will be working on synthesizing and organizing their ideas for their presentation.

Applications for scholarships for academic summer camps are due Thursday, 16th.

January 30-February 3, 2017

Monday

Students will make sure to finish all of their makeup work from being out last Thursday and Friday.

 

Tuesday

Students allowed to bring items for our UN celebration during class.

 

Wednesday

I will introduce the performance standards project. I will give the students the grading rubric and we will watch the introductory video. Students will select 1 task to focus their project on. Students may work individually or in a group. Students will download their task with links for framework for their project based learning unit. The students will research at  http://www.texaspsp.org/ to decide which task they will be doing for their PBL unit.

 

Thursday

The students will continue research at  http://www.texaspsp.org/ to decide which task they will be doing for their PBL unit. They may either work independently or with a group of 2-3 classmates. Friday at the beginning of the class is the due date for name of group members and task description.

 

Friday

Students will work on their project based learning unit. They will have their Chromebook to do any research they will need. They will make sure to follow the rubric and instructional packet as a guide for their project.

 

January 23-27, 2017

Monday

Students will turn in Model UN permission forms.

Model UN delegate map is due today.

Model UN delegate collage is due today. These projects were introduced for students to start on November 17th.

 

Tuesday and Wednesday

As a class I will discuss UN competition procedures in committee and General Assembly. We will also discuss parliamentary procedure. The students will practice giving their position paper and pro and con speeches.

 

Thursday and Friday

Students will attend the Region VII G/T United Nation’s Competition in Kilgore. We will leave the school at 7:45 and return by 3:30 both days. Students are to dress in their best dress clothes.

Tuesday-Friday

Students will work on collage, map, position paper, and pro and con speeches.

Students will practice sharing their speeches with the class.

*Their third set of 10 resolution pro and con speeches are due at the END of class Wednesday.

*The remaining few resolution pro and con speeches are due at the END of class Friday.

*Student’s map and collage are DUE at the beginning of class next Monday.

January 2-6, 2016

Monday

I will introduce how to write a pro and con speech using model speeches.

Students will write their 1st persuasive pro and con speech making sure to use textual evidence as their support. The speeches are to be up to 1 minute long.

*Their first set of 10 is due at the beginning of class next Monday.
