September 26-30, 2016

Monday and Tuesday

Students will continue their UN committee research online for a world issue to write their resolution on. There are suggested topics in the student’s UN manual. They are to have their topic decided upon at the beginning of the class on Wednesday.

Wednesday- Friday

Students will work on starting their resolution preamble clauses making sure to follow along in their UN manual.

Each day I will share a resolution as a model for students to follow when writing their resolution.

September 19-23, 2016

Monday

We will watch a video on United Nations, then students will take a quiz.

Students will begin their Model UN Country Questionnaire done as a delegation group.

 

Tuesday-Friday

Students will continue to work on their UN Country Questionnaire.

*This is due on Friday.

 

 

 

September 12-16, 2016

Monday and Tuesday

Students will work in their self-chosen groups on their United Nations Google Slides presentation making sure to follow the guidelines given and discussed. Students will cite their sources for their text, images, and possible videos.

 

Wednesday

Students will show their UN Google Slide presentation.

 

Thursday

Middle School pep-a-rally

 

Friday

Students will begin their Model UN Country Questionnaire done as a delegation.

September 5-9, 2016

Monday-Friday

Mini-lesson on using search.creativecommons.org to find videos and images to use in their presentation.

Mini-lesson on citing sources.

Students will work in their self-chosen groups on their United Nations Google Slides presentation.

The presentation is due on Monday, 12th.

August 29- September 2, 2016

Monday and Tuesday

In partners, students will utilize the links on my blog to find a world news article. They will then write a summary and significance of the article/event. This is due at the beginning of class on Wednesday.

Wednesday

I will explain the student’s United Nation’s Google Presentation guidelines. Students will get into groups and begin their assignment that will be due at the beginning of class on Friday, September 9th.

Thursday

Students will work on their Google Presentation. I will have a mini-lesson on how to cite your source.

Friday

Students will attend the high school pep-a-rally.

 

August 22-26, 2016

Monday

I will give the 6th graders a synopsis of our GT class for this year that we will read and discuss.

In groups, students will play a United Nation’s trivia game.

Tuesday

We will discuss how to paraphrase and summarize material. As a class we will discuss what a world issue is.

Wednesday

As a class we will read a UN News Centre article together then write a summary and then give the significance of the issue/event.

I will send home a informational handout and form to be filled out and returned next Monday.

Thursday and Friday

In partners, students will utilize the links on my blog to find a world news article. They will then write a summary and significance of the article/event. This is due at the beginning of class on Monday.
